Meredith: My Design Style |
| I
began my career intent on gaining a diverse range of experience
in different building types
and design styles with challenging projects…not just mastering
one specific architectural
design style. In my early career I gained in-depth knowledge creating building
design for residential, commercial, office, restaurant, retail and
resort projects. I
carefully and methodically designed different types of contemporary
as well as traditional
forms of architecture. I achieved my goal of diversity in design
while working
with several well-established San Diego architectural firms. That
period in my life
provided wonderful opportunities and the valuable experience I desired
in a host of different
architectural disciplines. It was a chance to explore and meet enormous
design challenges,
intensely orchestrating an array of architectural forms with exterior
and interior
design forms. It's a constant balance with nature and the exterior
components of land
forms, building forms, landscape, hardscape, courtyards, outdoor
living spaces, water
& fire features. |
|
These are all blended meticulously with the
building style. My architectural
skills evolved from a strong background of design and art. With
that talent, my
architectural creativity spans a wide range of disciplines from
Contemporary, Modern,
Traditional, Mediterranean, Craftsman, Frank Lloyd Wright style,
and Spanish – to
name just a few. My projects take on the personal essence of the
client's basic ideas,while
addressing the critical physical demands of each specific site.
I've been fortunate to
receive honors and awards for design projects in many of the varied
aforementioned architectural
styles. Therefore, there is no predominant style of architecture
for which I'm
more skilled than another. My professional recognition, honors and
awards have been
gained locally and nationally for projects displaying an array of
architectural styles. I
was privileged to have the Discovery Channel select my firm for
a special television segment
featuring a home I designed in Del Mar, CA. Examples of my work
may be viewed
on the website: www.ArchitectDeanMeredith.com.
Whether
it's the complex home designed in a "Frank Lloyd Wright"
style, a Spanish hacienda
in Rancho Santa Fe; CA; a coastal beach cottage, a luxury home, a handsome
Craftsman style home, or an upscale restaurant; I'm not limited
to any one architectural
style to create my client's vision. I pursue each project with the
same intense
excitement and passion – successfully taking each project
from start to finish. |

That
process involves the following steps:
(1) Site
planning, building design, interior design, exterior design, lighting
design
(2) Preparing
techinical drawings to build the project
(3)
Submitting technical drawings to the building department to obtain
building permits (and
any pertinent governmental or regulatory board approvals)
(4) Submitting
technical drawings to contractors to determine construction costs
(5) Assisting
the client in selecting a contractor and negotiating the contracts
(6) Overseeing
the onsite construction to verify the contractor is building according to the drawings
and specifications.
The entire
design process involves lacing exterior building design forms with
those of the interior. My work is completed without compromising the integrity
of the project
and ultimately scultping a personalized "work of art"
for each client.
